Organic Modern
Jessica calls her style “organic modern”.  She strives to create jewelry that is wearable, yet unique. Each is a small artwork.

It’s evident that the pieces are handmade. They are built with traditional metalsmithing techniques and tools such as the mallet, the torch, & the saw.  Everything starts out as wire or sheet metal.

In her designs, Jessica creates squares that are not quite square, organic circles, and prefers slightly uneven shapes; some imbalance.  Never a  perfectionist, she allows for a lot of texture and life in the jewelry.

Materials
The metal is primarily silver. Additional metals include gold filled, and red brass, and copper usually as a base for enamel.  Pearls, rocks, beach glass, bone, enamel, and other semi-precious gems are also incorporated.

Jessica currently adds color to her jewelry using torch-fired enamel; colored glass fused to metal. These interesting works have color, texture, and a unique painterly quality.
Jessica Rose Nathan
Jessica has been working with metal as a career, since the early 1990's. She majored in Graphic Design in College at CCAC, (now CCA), but really took to metal while in school.  After graduating, she went with her gut and started doing jewelry full time.
Jewelry later took a back seat to some larger metal art home decor pieces. Then a few years later, once again back to jewelry.

The studio is in an outbuilding in her back yard in Chico, Northern California. Jessica has exhibited in numerous galleries across the U.S. as well as the Major Art Museum stores.
